I wish I knew the right answer to the perfect CV. There is many factors playing in for the making of a good CV.
It all comes back to what job you are looking for, what you can add to your CV (Previous experiences) and so on.
Many has heard previous that you should not exceed 1 page, as far as i am concerned, that is not right. Why?
The CV is a way to show yourself from an angle that interests the employer and should involve:
Facts/ contact info about You - previous experience - skills as the main content.
"it is the quality that matters, not the quantity!"
Having said that, the two most common ways of making your CV is a Digital Way and the "Standard" way.
The Digital:
This is my favourite by miles and I will give you some points why,
- It`s Clean
- More Graphical (without being too much)
- Perfect if you are looking for a job within IT - Digital jobs - Media and Business
- You can use the power of social media to "display" yourself and your CV easier
- Up to date
When you are using a Digital CV it gives the employers the impression that you are updated and follows the trends in the market. The other advantage is that it is very easy to update, as a job searcher myself you can find yourself on multiple job searcher pages and it can get out of hand and difficult to update if you have changed something on your CV. With the Digital version it linked to the Homepage you made your CV so that employers always gets the updated one. WIN WIN.
The most used site is: VisualCV
- If you have a lot of work in the digital space, a VisualCV might be an option. This format allows you to pull all types of interactive content into a traditional resume format with additional links to blog posts, Twitter accounts, videos, presentations and so on. You can also add charts and graphs to enhance the look. It serves as a great digital portfolio and can really dress up the traditional resume.
And if you feel like you want to see mine, here it is:
Another Digital and used site is LinkedIn, this is the world`s largest professional network woth over 120 million members and growing rapidly,so if you are not familiar with this page, click in and see for yourself.
The Standard:
This is very good to have in Backhand since not everyone appreciate the digital version. The standard Paper edition is by far the most used around the world and is still serving it`s users with great deal of seriousnes and also simplicity.
Are you on the lookout for a job? What kind of CV do you have and think is the best?
